LAS VEGAS, July 20, 2008 -- The Minnesota Timberwolves never trailed as they defeated the New York Knicks, 111-91, in the first of five games in the final day of competition at the 2008 NBA Summer League Presented by EA SPORTS.Both the Timberwolves -- playing without Kevin Love, who suffered a sore left Achilles yesterday against the Bucks -- and the Knicks finished their Summer League stints with matching 2-3 records.\n\nMinnesota dominated throughout, shooting 62 percent from the floor during the first 20 minutes of play and stretching their lead to as many as 16 in the half, on the back of Pops Mensah-Bonsu\'s 13 first-half points.\n\nIn the second half, the Timberwolves\' defense kicked in, holding the Knicks to only 13 in the third quarter. The Knicks, who had been down as many as 28, rallied in the fourth and comewithin 12 points, 87-99, with 3:46 toplay. But the deficit proved too great -- Minnesota closed the game out with a 20-point win, 111-91.Notes: Knicks guard Nate Robinson was honored with a ceremonial jersey-retirement during halftime of the game in recognition of his contributions to the NBA Summer League during the last three years. \n\nMade by NBA TV.
