Tony Hawk\'s American Wasteland Review PS2 BMX VIDEOS - BMX VIDEO CLIPS & MOVIES

The reason for Tony Hawks fans great disappointment with this game is because their hopes were raised by the games\' commercial. It idolised the impressive sounding \"no loading\" but the reality is quite different. When you begin the game there is a loading screen which kind of slaps you in the face but once you click on the game m ode, You will automatically be placed in the level, everything is present, its all loaded with no trouble!American Wasteland is seen as a free roaming game...why is this? Because there are no loading screens between levels. It all sounds good but to travel between locations you must skate through a rather bland looking corridor/hallway while the game secretly loads.It\'s not as bad as it sounds to people who weren\'t that psyched about the no loading screeens, you do still have a few rails or objects to grind on and some various other things. What strikes me as unusual is how people are rating this game so harshly for such a small downside! No game would be marked down a rating because it has loading between levels so why does this get marked down because people were mislead by the trailer?T.H.A.W stands out from the Tony Hawk game collection because now you are given the option of riding either Board or Bike and you can alternate throughout the game by finding a bike, leaving your board and hopping right onto it.\nOf course to uphold the popularity of Tony Hawk skateboarding games, the bike mechanics are not too polished or Hawk could lose some fans to Dave Mirra. \nThe bike addition should not really be seen as anything more than a neat little extra. But nevertheless it does work quite well and gives you a fair share of tricks and something else to do if you ever get bored orirritated by Skateboards.\nThe story is not particularly long or greatly exciting but it is one of the most enjoyable of all the TH games.\nBasically, you move to Hollywood to try and become a pro skater and on the way you meet new interesting characters, you are taught new tricks and after you have proven worthy, you are let into a group of skaters who take you to their hidden ranch.\nAs the story develops you all decide to change the ranch \'wasteland\' into an awesome skatepark! To do this you travel around collecting useful additions to the park and most of the time you will have to do quite a lot to get some of these pieces. One example is a dinosaur head. It is something which sticks out from a shop. You pull off insane combos on the pieces which support it, it falls to the ground and later on you collect it and add it to your park! There is always something new to do around every corner of this game and so it is highly addictive and hard to get bored of.The graphics are more or less what you would expect from a good Tony Hawk game but this game\'s graphics are slightly better than all the other games\'. As a matter of fact, there is a great amount of detail put into everything in this game and so the game looks as good as it plays.\n\nThe controls are virtually the same to all of the Tony Hawk games but just be prepared for a completely new game because the game offers quite a lot of new abilities which are activated by a button or combination of buttons.\nYou also have control over the camera but it follows your character itself like most games. Unfortunately the camera rotates and moves fast and so therefore could be quite hard to get used to but other than that, it works as it should and does the job!\nGame saving takes quite a while but can be done at any time from the start menu which is handy.\nOn the subject of \'handy\', instead of making all your customisations on the main menu, you actually go to the shops, barbers and tattoo parlours all in-game! This is a useful addition but not if you have little money or if you are in a location where these buildings are scarce.\n\nLike always, there are various other game modes but most of these are exactly the same as the ones featured in previous Tony Hawk games with nothing added at all.\n\nCreating a skater is good fun, especially that there are a lot of new clothing types and accessories they can wear and despite THUG2 had quite a lot more, these look far more accurate and realisticthan ever before and so I am not disappointed.\n\nOne thing which never fails to disappoint me on Skateboarding games is the soundtrack and this one is just as bad. \nApart from minor issues like this, American Wasteland is one of the best in the series.
