VOLUNTEER ORGANIZING MEETING THURS FEB 21, 2008 7:30 pm 1260 Dufferin St (Wallace Emerson Community Centre), Toronto.See Facebook Group \"TorontoBMX Jam \'08\" or http://torontobmx.ca/ for all the details\n\n\nThis video was taken by the Crime Stoppers School Officer at the completion of the \'MOVE OUT\' of the BMX Bike Park from the 2007 CFL Grey Cup Event in Toronto.\n\nThank you to \'LIVENATION\' and the kind people at the Molson Amphitheatre for allowing Michael Heaton to store the ramps on the stage until the Toronto BMX Jam \'08 March 7,8,9, 2008 at the International Toronto Bicycle Show, Direct Energy Centre, CNE Grounds, Toronto (indoors). \n\nThe involvement of the Argos Foundation in the BMX Bike Park was onlyleading up to the 2007 Grey Cup event. Michael is actively seeking financial backers for this project, as well as a permanent indoor location in the downtown area of Toronto. Anyone with contacts to facilitate these goals please contact Michael Heaton through the above TorontoBMX website, or Cst Scott Mills by e-mailing to the TorontoBMX YouTube account. \n\nThis BMX Bike Park is moving, and we need volunteers to HELP!\n\nSee Facebook Group \"TorontoBMX Jam \'08\" or http://torontobmx.ca/ for all the details\n\nOnly 3 weeks to go before the Toronto BMX Jam 08 is assembled and the first major BMX Freestyle event of 2008 takes place right here in town at the Toronto International Bicycle Show, March 7 to 9. As you can imagine, it\'s going to be a huge effort to bring the 8 tractor trailer loads of ramps into the Direct Energy Centre, put all of the ramps together, run an event for 90 Amateurs and 60 Pros on the weekend, play host to over 20,000 spectators, then take everything apart and move the ramps to Wallace Emerson Community Centre for the summer. When the going gets tough over that weekend, just remember: a lot of work in a short period of time not only means a great event for some of the best riders in the world, but a BMX Park to ride for the rest of the year. There will be a lot of pride in knowing that you helped to make it all happen. Our VOLUNTEER MEETING is set for next THURSDAY FEBRUARY 21 at the Wallace Emerson Community Centre, 1260 Dufferin at Dupont at 7:30pm in the Community Lounge (the room on the 2nd floor that overlooks the area where the bike park was). At this time you will be able to meet with everyone else involved with the show. We will go over basic operating procedures and deal with any preliminary problems.Just a reminder of when I\'ll need your help at the DIRECT ENERGY CENTRE.THURSDAY MARCH 6: 8:00 am until the job is done -- probably well into the night - for moving and assembly.FRIDAY MARCH 7: 10:00 am until 9:00 pm running the show. For the list of positions at the show, visit the VOLUNTEER page on www.torontobmx.caSATURDAY MARCH 8: 9:00 am until 7:00 pmSUNDAY MARCH 9: 9:30 am until 6:00 pmSUNDAY MARCH 9: 5:30 pm until around midnight -- for deconstruction and moving the ramps to Wallace Emerson Park.If we\'ve talked recently and everything is still a go for you, you don\'t need to attend the meeting. Also, if you are from out of town or are busy on Thursday night, please just drop me a reply and let me know when you can be at the event to help out. Please don\'t overlook Sunday night: the move-out will require a lot of hands to make it all happen in 6 hours.Again, many thanks for your expression of interest in helping to put this all together. Your hard work will certainly be greatly appreciated.Michael Heaton Bike, BMX, Centre, Community, Crime, Emerson, forestry, heaton, mike, PArk, parks, recreation, Stoppers, Toronto, Volunteers, Wallace
