This week Martin Scorcese release his Rolling Stones movie, \'Shine ALight\'. Today I release the Soul Reality, the youtube (Lewis Taylors lawyers permitting). While Scorcese uses the worlds best camermen, with a multi million\n pound budgets, I use my macbook, snatching random shots from dressing\n rooms (where\'s that Alison David undressing, when you need her?)\n and/or holding my treasured computer up above punters heads and from\n stage left or right (basically wherever I can find a spot) as\n customers charge the stage to dance to the groovy tunes and get a\n closer look at the Collectives various young girl singers Sometimes I\n remember to turn down the input audio gain on my imovie, but generally\n I forget!\n\n Well, l know I always say this, but last nights SR gig was a\n blinder...\n\n We had a strong supporting back line, some, but by no means all, of\n whom had met before... some had even played together before!. These\n being the magnificently tasteful and talented Mr Adam Bushell on da\n drums, Pino\'s boyhood mate from Cardiff Ant Davies on dabass ), and the\n ever lovely and multi-talented Lisa C on keyboards (available from\n Woolworths, complete with Mark Ronson string and brass sounds) and my\n old never set up/never changed strings 20 year old Casino guitar (\n lovingly described by Dave Ital as \'what the fuck is this?).\n\n All frontedby the uber guitar playing of Mr Dave Ital and the short\n skirted wonder that is Miss Chantelle. Dave could, if if were the\n type, claim to be one of, if not the, UK\'s top guitar player, having\n shared the spotlight on TV, stage and screen with the likes of Anita\n Baker, Beyonce, Bobby Womack, Sugababes, Lewis Taylor...yes, Lewis\n Fucking Taylor....anddozens , if not hundreds, indeed, of other majorrecording stars and talents across any number of musical genres. Forthose hoping to emulate Dave\'s success in this god hard industry, should perhaps note how he dresses for all gigs, turns up at 5.20pmfor a 5.30pm soundcheck (even though he had the furthest to travel),looks to support the singer and, most important this, brings assuranceand energy (not least visually) from the first note to the last.Oh, and he plays guitar rather well too.\n\n I\'ve been watching Chantelle develop over many years now and her\n talent has never been in doubt - she is, and has always been, a\n different class to those performers you see on X factor and American\n Idol, both vocally, visually and more.....if the average person in the\n street thinks the Leone Lewis\'s, Steve Brooksteins etc represent the\n cream of talent in this country, well...all I can say is they need to\n get out more.... starting at Soul Reality gigs, perhaps\n\n Anyway, last night was, for me, Chantelle\'s coming of age gig. She was\n amazing....singing great, showing the wider range of her vocal talents\n and styles. A consummate frontperson, she fronted the band expertly, judged\n the set list perfectly (with appropriate sensibility to the SR\n repertoire) and, generally, had the audience eating out of her hand.\n\n She is, indeed, now moreor less the complete package. Not bad for\n21, Given a fair wind and the right representation she could,\nbasically, be as big as she wants to be.\n\n Anyway, with the usual collection of SR standards and late 60\'/early\n 70\'s hippy vibe - from Marvin to Hendrix, from Led Zep to the Isleys\n from Cream toPrince etc etc - it was a killer gig. Even my world weary ex A&Rgrump of a brother (only joking Mike!) was heard to remark \'can\'tbelieve these guys ain\'t played together before, they sound so tight\'.And the sell out crowd just went mad for it.....they just swarmed thestage and danced and jumped all night, in a way that I\'d neverwitnessed before at the Hanbury (and what a lovely venue and what suchlovely people)Other bands may have a hgher profile and may make more money but does anyone have as much fun amy, beatles, hendrix, jim, reality, soul, winehouse
